People are so busy making a living, most are ill-informed concerning those making political decisions for them. In a sense, they have become worker bees for the state – too busy at their tasks to see the forest fire coming their way. Many times their elected officials have let them down, but the people are unaware.
When people are informed concerning the bad management of the Obama administration, some within the party say you can’t just complain, do something. When I tell them how to get good people that are fiscal, moral, and constitutional conservatives elected, they balk and say we must be more inclusive. Folks, compromise with evil has gotten us into this mess. “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country” (Charles E. Weller) or you won’t have a country or state with freedom and prosperity.
I know from my stint in Lansing that those elected by their peers as leaders in the House and Senate often want followers – it makes their agendas easier, but it takes away from the purpose of elected officials – to represent the people. To blindly follow leads to mini-dictatorships who have garnered power with promises and money. True leaders think for themselves, analyze, and act on the best interests of their constituents. A good leader surrounds himself with people that will tell him what he needs to know, not what he wants to hear. Elect such leaders.
You Can’t Make Up The 1.5 Trillion By Taxing The Rich
The annual federal deficit is running about 1.5 trillion dollars. Personal income tax receipts are about 900 billion, corporate about 200 billion, for a total in income tax receipts of about $1.1 trillion. To get another 1.5 trillion in tax revenues, you would have to increase income taxes on everybody by 150%!
Nor can we just “soak the rich,” the top one percent. The top 1% is made up of about a million taxpayers making $250,000 or more. There are about 4 million of those. In order to cover the 1.5 trillion dollar deficit, we would have to get about $400,000 more each year out of each of those families. It’s tough to come up with an extra $400,000 when you are only making $250,000.
If you want to get it out of those making a million or more, there are about 235,000 of those. That means you have to get $6,000,000 more out of each of those. Again, tough to find an extra six million when you are only making a million.
If you want to get it out of the 8,000 making 10 million or more – again, lots of luck.
The greatest threat we face as a nation, is that we are in danger of forgetting what made us great as a people. Our ancestors responded to the call to “Go west young men,” because that was where the opportunities, and the risks, were to be found.
Now we are heeding the call to “Go East young men,” because in Washington DC you can find government jobs paying on average $20,000 a year more than private sector jobs, government guarantees for the “retire at 55” unsustainable pensions your Unions negotiated for you, inexpensive health care paid for by your grand children, unemployment compensation extendable as long as “necessary,” bail outs for the obviously flawed investments you (and especially Wall Street) made, help to keep you in the house you couldn’t afford, and in general, lifetime security and entitlements.
I hope there is something in the foregoing to offend all of us, for we are all part of the problem. We are asking the government to guarantee and subsidize everything, with money stolen from our grandchildren.
Most of us support the philosophy of helping the bottom 10 or 15%. But the current thinking among many is that we can do everything for everybody, and pass the bill along to our grandchildren. That is NOT sustainable. Our lapse of vision and failure to remember what made us great as a people, has lead to runaway national debt, which is the greatest single threat to the future of America since the Civil War.
And let’s not forget about those $127 Trillion of Unfunded Liabilities (Professor Lawrence Kotlikoff says is really $222 Trillion today). The whole world’s GDP is only $45 Trillion. These liabilities, created by Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, ACA, Welfare, Food Stamps etc., cannot be all paid; something has got to give. It is just simple math. How’s that for a sustainable future?

Jocelyn and her Record Book Bull Tahr
From the Wilderness Quest New Zealand October 2013 Newsletter:
8 year old Jocelyn and her 10 year old brother Brady came hunting with us in July with their grandparents, Dave and Barbara Agema. Dave loves to get his grandkids out hunting, and his thorough preparation was soon evident at our 300 meter shooting range. Brady was up hunting first, and successfully took a nice 370 SCI Red Stag with one shot. Next we traveled to out tahr hunting area, and on the second day had a 370 yard shot opportunity on what looked like a huge old bull tahr. Jocelyn was able to successfully take this shot with our suppressed 7mm mag rifle and harvest a magnificent old bull tahr. This tahr had great character, with nearly a whole inch broomed off one horn. In spite of this it still measured as the # 6 SCI Record Book Tahr. What a great trophy and a great reward to dedicated people helping our younger generation to get out in the woods and into hunting! At just 8 years old, Jocelyn is now our youngest hunter to hunt “The King of the Mountain.” Well Done!
The sixth largest in the world ever taken, now that’s accomplishing something.
Obama Lied, People Were Denied
President Obama and his fellow Democrats repeatedly told the American people that if you liked your plan you could keep it. This was one of the principles on which they sold ObamaCare. As families learn their insurance has been canceled, this has been proven a lie. Democrats knew families would lose their insurance under ObamaCare, but they lied to the American people so they could force ObamaCare on the country. Now millions are paying the price as they lose coverage and are forced either to go without and pay a fine or purchase more expensive plans.

Senate Democrats Ensured Americans Would Lose Insurance
As CNN reports, “Senate Democrats voted unanimously three years ago to support the ObamaCare rule that is largely responsible for some of the health insurance cancellation letters that are going out.” They blocked a Republican resolution that would have ensured Americans could keep their individual plans. This includes vulnerable Democrats like Mary Landrieu, Jeanne Shaheen, Mark Pryor, Kay Hagan, and Mark Begich.
In 2010, Republicans foresaw that ObamaCare would force many Americans out of their current plans and took action to prevent that, but Democrats blocked the legislation. As a result they are completely responsible for the large-scale plan cancelations. They knew “If you like your plan, you can keep it” was a lie, but they repeated it anyway. In 2014, Republicans will make sure voters hold them accountable.
President Obama Is A Bystander President
NSA Spying on Merkel. Healthcare.gov glitches. IRS targeting conservatives. DOJ subpoenas of news organizations. Solyndra. President Obama is always the last to know when major scandals hit. It has become a pattern. Something goes wrong, the White House denies they knew anything, and the president insists he’s “mad.”
Shouldn’t Americans be concerned that their president doesn’t know what’s going on his own administration? Shouldn’t they be mad that he doesn’t take responsibility? Where does the buck stop in this White House? It’s like the president is a spectator of his own presidency.
Obama Approval Ratings Have Hit New Lows
According to the latest NBC/WSJ poll, Obama’s approval rating is just 42%. 51% disapprove. It’s a new record, and comes at a time when ObamaCare has been constantly in the headlines. 52 percent of Americans think ObamaCare should either be totally eliminated or get a “major overhaul.” Only 6 percent of Americans think ObamaCare is working well the way it is.
ObamaCare is unpopular, and so is the president. The more Americans feel the impact of the health care law, the less the like it. As Democrats continue to defend the law, they’re revealing just how out-of-touch they are with the American people.

No one has been held accountable for the mismanagement of ObamaCare or the healthcare.gov debacle or the hundreds of millions of wasted taxpayer dollars. When HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified before Congress this week, she said “Hold me accountable for the debacle. I’m responsible.”
Sebelius should be held accountable. She should be fired. She botched the ObamaCare rollout, and she can’t be trusted to fix it. In her testimony, she told lies, she was dismissive, and she even insisted that healthcare.gov had never crashed. How can someone who can’t see the problems fix the problems?
