“A Hallelujah Christmas” by Cloverton

I remember sitting in an unheated quonset hut in Korea on Christmas Day 1976 on a remote tour without my family, watching an outdated movie in my Mickey Mouse boots, long underwear, and parka, wondering what my family was doing and how I missed them all.  When I arrived home a year later my 15 month old daughter didn’t recognize me.  Please remember the troops that serve at the whim of a civilian politician.  Never send them to war unless you’ll let them fight to win with everything at their disposal, or don’t send them at all.  They give up a lot at this time of year.  Please reach out to their families here and let them know you care.  There are only two people that died for you, Jesus for your soul and the American soldier for your freedom.  May we never forget!  Let us stand on the principles that made this country great.

As you celebrate Christmas remember this:  II Corinthians 9:15 (NLT) “Thank God for his Son – a gift too wonderful for words.”  Romans 15:13 (ESV) “May the God of hope fill you with all JOY AND PEACE in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in Hope.”  In a world that seems hopeless, our hope is in God and His principles, not that of man.  As you celebrate with family and friends, give thanks to God, who blessed this country more than any other because we acknowledged Him via our founding fathers.  May we never forget our roots and how this country was formed.

Twelve Days of ObamaCare

The twelve days of Christmas run, traditionally, from Christmas Day to Epiphany Eve (January 5th), providing Christians with the opportunity to focus their worship and study on the birth of the Christchild and the salvation he came to win for us.  The twelve days of ObamaCare?  Not so much.  The Republican National Committee’s Research Department released a twelve-part series on the overall damage that our president’s “signature achievement” has done, and continues to do, to the domestic economy.  Not by coincidence, the research pieces were timed to release one per day during the run-up to the president leaving for his Christmas holiday on December 20th.

Obama Wins Lie Of The Year (and That’s Not The Only ObamaCare Lie)

Two weekends ago, PolitiFact declared “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it” the lie of the year.  The refrain, repeated by President Obama and Democrats, has been proven false now that over 5 million Americans have received cancellation notices.  ObamaCare was sold on a deliberate lie.  This lie will haunt Democrats in the 2014 elections.  Republicans said from the beginning ObamaCare would force Americans off their plans.  Democrats knew it was true, but they repeated their lie anyway.  ObamaCare would never have passed if they had told the truth.

Other Democrat claims have been proven false.  Individual plans on Healthcare.gov are actually more expensive for many.  Families are paying MORE for healthcare under ObamaCare.  And even if you like your doctor, you may not be able to keep it as insurance providers shrink their networks because of ObamaCare.  Democrats can’t get away with lying about the effects of ObamaCare anymore because Americans are feeling them firsthand.  They’re seeing what’s happening to their friends, family, and neighbors.  In 2014, Republicans will be able to hold every Democrat accountable for these lies in a way that was not yet possible in 2012.

Administration Misses Yet Another Deadline (and Issues Another Unilateral Delay)

The administration set November 30 as the deadline for HealthCare.gov to function properly.  But users are still reporting glitches and long waits.  Insurers and other entities are reporting “back end” errors – meaning they’re receiving inaccurate information from the website.  The website is only part of ObamaCare, but if this administration can’t meet its own deadlines and fix a website, how can it be trusted to manage the entire health care system?  HealthCare.gov has been a waste of taxpayer dollars and time.  Private information isn’t secure.  And people who have signed up may not actually be able to receive insurance because insurers are getting bad information from the site.

The Obama administration issued another unilateral delay of ObamaCare regulations two weekends ago, delaying the individual mandate, via a “hardship exemption,” for those whose insurance plans were canceled because of ObamaCare.  Customers will now have till Dec. 31 to pay for coverage that starts Jan. 1.  They will also have an extra week to sign up for January coverage.  This follows a one-year delay in the employer mandate and delayed online enrollment for the small business exchanges.  The administration has now delayed or cancelled a dozen different parts of ObamaCare, including the 2014 fall enrollment period, among others.

The Obama administration is making it up as it goes, and clearly thinks it has the power to rewrite a law however it likes.  That’s a dangerous precedent.  And the need for delays illustrates how poorly ObamaCare was written and implemented, perhaps even proving that the president has finally realized that ObamaCare is a hardship for millions of Americans.  ObamaCare is a disastrous law, but the president does not get to rewrite laws whenever and however he wants.  A delay can’t change the fact that ObamaCare is fundamentally flawed – and must be repealed and replaced.

Healthcare.gov Still Isn’t Working Properly (and There’s Still No Accountability For ObamaCare)

November 30 was the administration’s latest self-imposed deadline for Healthcare.gov to work properly.  They missed it.  There are still long waits and “back end” programming glitches – meaning information is inaccurately sent to insurance providers.  So some Americans who signed up for coverage may not actually have it after all.  Healthcare.gov is just part of ObamaCare but it shows how incompetent the federal government is at managing the nation’s healthcare system.  Hundreds of millions of dollars have been poured into a malfunctioning website.  It can’t even perform its basic function: getting people signed up for insurance by the New Year.

The website continues to malfunction.  Prices continue to increase.  Plans continue to get canceled.  Yet no one has been fired.  The administration won’t release information on why things have gone so wrong.  Where’s the accountability?  The American people are losing confidence in the Obama administration because the president refuses to take responsibility for the gross mismanagement of ObamaCare.  Whether it’s telling people they could keep their plans or refusing to release hard data on enrollments, the administration isn’t being honest with the American people.

The Polls Are Bad For Democrats (Who Are On Defense Over ObamaCare)

With ObamaCare in the headlines on a daily basis, the polls show Americans are not happy with the law and the president.  AP-GfK find 58% disapprove of the job he’s doing.  Quinnipiac finds only 38% approval; 62% disapprove of ObamaCare.  NBC/WSJ find only 37% say he’s “being honest and straightforward.”  Coverage of ObamaCare has hurt the president and the healthcare law, and Democrats will have to answer for their support of both in the 2014 election.  On nearly every issue, the president has lost his credibility among the majority of Americans, and he’s bringing his entire party down with him.

Vulnerable Democrats, especially 2014 Senate candidates, are already playing defense over ObamaCare – proof that their constituents are angry about being lied to.  Mary Landrieu is up with an ad claiming she’s fixed ObamaCare and calling on the president to keep his promise.  She fails to mention that Americans are still losing coverage and that she repeated the same promise.  Mary Landrieu is so desperate she’s pretending she fixed a problem she created.  No Senate Democrat – not Landrieu, Pryor, Hagan, Shaheen, Begich, Merkeley – gets a pass on ObamaCare.  They created the problems.  They repeated the lies.  And the problems are far from fixed.

ObamaCare Is A Losing Issue For Democrats

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz promised all Democrat candidates will run on ObamaCare in 2014.  Polling shows more Americans disapprove of the law than approve.  Among Millennials, 57 percent disapprove.  The ObamaCare rollout has driven Obama’s poll numbers to record lows.  The DNC may put on a happy face, but Democrats aren’t smiling about ObamaCare.  Democrats on the ballot next November are scared of ObamaCare.  One top Democrat aid this week was quoted saying, “I know these guys are as nervous as hell … it’s a nightmare.”  ObamaCare has been a “nightmare” for American families, and Republicans will hold Democrats accountable for it.

President Obama Ignores His Own Record

Earlier this month, President Obama tried to ‘pivot’ back to the economy by giving a speech on income inequality.  He failed to mention that income inequality has increased during his presidency.  The poverty rate has gone up, and the Gini Coefficient (used measure income inequality) has increased.  After nearly five years in office, President Obama is still pretending he isn’t to blame for the economic status quo.  As always, he refuses to take responsibility for anything that happens on his watch.  But whether he admits it or not, his presidency has been difficult for poor and middle class Americans.

Millennials Are Giving Up On Obama

A new poll from Harvard this week shows the president and Democrats losing support from Millennials, who were once among Obama’s biggest supporters.  55 percent disapprove of his job performance, a 23-point drop; 61 percent disapprove of his handling of the economy.  It’s no surprise Millennials are giving up on Obama and the Democrats.  ObamaCare makes healthcare more expensive for them; premiums will double for many.  And young Americans continue to have the most trouble finding good, full-time jobs.

November’s Jobs Report Shows Unemployment Is Still Too High

More Americans found jobs in November, and the unemployment rate ticked down.  The unemployment rate is at 7.0 percent, and 20.7 million Americans are unemployed, are underemployed, or have given up looking for work.  Too many Americans are out of work.  7 percent unemployment is much too high.  All Americans deserve a chance to get a good job to provide for their families.  If Democrats would listen to Republican ideas for boosting the private sector and creating jobs, this jobs report would be stronger.
