Lieutenant Colonel Allen West was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and lived where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

was a preacher. He served for 22 years in the United States Army and received many military honors.

In 2010, he was elected to the U.S. Congress from the 22nd District of Florida. He was one of 44 blacks in the 112th

U.S. Congress, one of 2 blacks in the Republican Caucus.

Colonel West attended the last Michigan GOP Convention in Novi. Many people met him as he moved through the

crowd being introduced by Ambassador Ron Weiser.

On his website, allenbwest.com, December 29, 2014, Colonel West wrote a piece in which he said, “Every now and

then, you come across an article that folks just need to read. This one written by Michael Smith entitled,

‘Confessions of a Public Defender,’ and originally posted at American Renaissance on May 9, 2014, is one of those

He urges the review of this piece by saying, “It will take you only 5 minutes to read this article-and I will bet you will

read it again. Then ask yourself, is this something you hear Al Sharpton addressing? Or President Obama, Eric

Holder, Jeh Johnson, or Jesse Jackson?”

He describes the article by saying, “It is a profound and deeply disturbing piece…. Smith articulates that

which ails the black community—the real discussion we should be having on race–not that of victimhood and the

further expansion of the welfare nanny-state….There is a war to be fought, it is for the soul of the inner city and the

black community….We cannot begin to ‘have a conversation about race’ until we are willing to honestly address the

Below are five core principles taken from the Republican Party Platform.  These central values were passed unanimously as a single resolution by the Republican National Committee:

Our rights come from God, and it’s the government’s job to protect those rights.
We believe in traditional marriage, not homosexual marriage.
We believe in your right to bear arms, and it should not be infringed.
We believe in legal immigration, NOT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
We believe in the sanctity of life.

Additionally, two other significant resolutions have been passed:

We oppose ObamaCare.
We oppose Common Core.

As we approach the primary, please evaluate which candidates or incumbents presently running have honored these principles.  Google: Project Vote Smart and type in the various candidates’ names (or do the same at iVoterGuide.com).  Their voting records will appear and you can easily determine if they have supported these seven central principles.  Since past behavior is one of the best predictors of future behavior, their voting history will help you determine their commitment to these core values if they are elected.

When I ran for Republican National Committeeman, I committed to work against the Party’s philosophical drift to the left.  Further, I committed to getting fiscal, moral, and constitutional conservatives elected.  I still pursue these goals.  I have yet seen no instance in history where a country or state that goes socialist has helped itself, but rather has destroyed itself.  Please review the candidates running in your district, make your decisions, and join me in getting platform conservatives elected.

In 1962, in a speech to the Cadets at West Point, General MacArthur said,

In this day of gathering storms, as moral deterioration of political power spreads its growing infection, it is essential that every spiritual force be mobilized to defend and preserve the religious base upon which this nation is founded; for it has been that base which has been the motivating impulse to our moral and national growth. History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate disaster.

It now appears we are on the brink of one or the other — awakening or disaster. Let’s consider our present situation.

(1)  Illegal immigrants (emphasis on the word illegal) in the thousands are pouring across our borders. Clearly, this poses the question: Do we welcome them with open arms or do we protect our own U.S. citizens from physical and financial harm? As a legislator, I worked diligently to stop illegal immigration because it threatens the safety and security of Americans, reduces the number of job available to U.S. citizens, and increases both state and federal costs due to increased use of social programs and government assistance. Few listened and no action was taken.

(2)  We have permitted PACs, lobbyists, and the wealthy elitists to determine the direction of our party. The passage of Medicaid Expansion and Common Core, along with open support for gay marriage, are prime examples of their impact. It should be noted that there is an effort to add homosexuals to the Elliot-Larson Act. The Republican Party is losing its way; it is not honoring its platform and the moral and Constitutional principles upon which that platform is based.

(3)  We have taken no positive action to address the infiltration of radical Islam into the highest echelons of government. An obvious example is Huma Abdin, Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff, who has three close family members connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. (See the book entitled, The Muslim Brotherhood In The Obama Administration by Frank Gaffney.) Those in power do not understand that Muslim radicals plan to take over this country from within. To quote from the article entitled, “History of the Muslim Brotherhood Penetration of the U.S. Government,” by Clare M. Lopez (April 15, 1013):

The process of settlement [in the U.S.] is a “Civilization-Jihadist Process” with all the term means. The Ikhwan [Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.

(4)  Nor have we addressed the issue of Sharia Law being applied in our courts. Per Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy, “…Sharia law has entered into state court decisions, in conflict with the Constitution and state public policy….We found 50 significant cases just from the small sample of appellate published cases [which we reviewed].” (See article entitled, “Sharia Law and American State Courts,” June 21, 2011.)

Having served in both the Michigan legislature and the United States Military, I have seen first-hand the results of caving to power and/or the desire for financial gain or professional status. Selfish ambition, rather than the best interest of the country, becomes the focus. Now many of the same people who yielded to pressure, financial gain, and/or status are running again. Even though they:

blocked efforts to stop illegal immigration,
refused to stand against Obamacare, Medicaid Expansion, Common Core, and gay marriage,
closed their eyes to the infiltration and influence of Islamic radicals in our government, and
stonewalled the passage of a bill which would uphold the Constitution and disallow American Courts from using foreign laws (including but not limited to Sharia law),

. . . they are running for office again.

As your National Committeeman, I will not support these candidates. Please join me. Ask questions of your elected officials and check their voting records. As elections approach, let’s stand together to uphold the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the Judeo-Christian Biblical principles on which this country was founded.

As I have mentioned before, the RNC passed my 5 Core Principles resolution with unanimity a little over a year ago at the national level. In short those were:

Our rights come from God, and it’s the government’s job to protect those rights.
We believe in traditional marriage
Legal immigration – not illegal immigration
The second amendment
The sanctity of life.

. . . all of these are in direct opposition to the democrat platform.

Another set of principles for our republic that most republicans can agree on are these:

Private enterprise is superior to government enterprise.
There is a need for efficiency and economy in our government.
Government is best when it’s kept at the local level, and state sovereignty must not be infringed.
A favorable tax climate is best for a prosperous economy and abundant jobs.

To be effective we must use social media to further these objectives. Politicians understand voter numbers, and they need to hear from you when they stray off the reservation. We need to be writing letters to the newspapers and calling in to the radio stations to keep our base motivated and get our message out. Too many fear the liberal media, but we must be as aggressive as the left. Presently we are not. In the last election we were putting up yard signs while Obama was using social media. If we want to beat him, then we need to beat him at his own game.

Your freedom of speech is at risk, due to an aggressive left using Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals,” which emphasizes personal attacks in order to silence the voices of opponents. Many have fallen into this trap. Remember that the media is about 7% conservative, so expect to get attacked for speaking truth, but don’t stop. If you do, the ideological war is lost.

We need to mobilize our base, but we will not accomplish this by offending those that are the biggest part of our tent. When we go left, we lose our base, which is bigger than the few fringe elements we gain in return. Most every major society throughout history has experienced what we are now . . . just before their fall. We cannot expect differently unless we mobilize our political base, instead of offending them.

I have heard from Christian conservatives at Lincoln dinners and Tea Party groups that their values are not being represented. To them it seems that only people with money and power are represented, and some are wanting to bail out of the voting process. This is NOT the answer. Hold your elected officials’ feet to the fire, and vote people of integrity into office (who can’t be bought). We have primaries for a reason – use them to separate the dross from the silver. We’ll all be stronger for it and our base will stay our base.

There are many good people running for office. Ask them pertinent questions, but also check the voting records of those serving. Knowledge is power. Most are NOT knowledgeable of the people they are voting for, and use name recognition only (or “he seems like a nice guy”). You can change this by getting involved, not by bailing out. To win a battle, one must fight. To effectively fight, one must be trained. The state and national GOP have the tools to train, but the best tool is your own recognition that YOU must get involved to make things better. I got involved because I was sick of politicians that promised much while running, but changed once elected and became part of the machine that was a manufacturing plant for excessive taxes, fines, fees, regulations, and laws. I’m asking you to do the same. Keep on keeping on!

I recently returned from the RNC meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. Several resolutions and major rule changes were passed.

The rule change has some good, and some things I’m not particularly crazy about. The best part is there will be 8 debates and that we will control who the moderators are, not the liberal news media – that’s good. A recent poll showed that only 7% of the media is conservative, which means we seldom get a fair shake. No more 23 debates with liberal moderators like last time.

There was debate in the rules committee and once again in the general session concerning whether we should treat presidential candidates like teenagers and tell them when and where they can and cannot participate in debates. Under the new rule, if a candidate participates in a debate outside the authorization of the RNC, he will be barred from further sanctioned debates (not the reduction of delegates that was proposed previously). The problem was in determining what a sanctioned debate would look like and what constituted a non-sanctioned debate. So, in typical fashion, the new rule forms a committee, of which 5 members are chosen by Chairman Priebus and each of four regions will select two members (one female and one male) from the region. The committee will have the authority to sanction debates for the RNC and impose the penalty of removing a candidate if he/she deviates from the sanctioned debates on their own. The question then became: what would a non-sanctioned debate, resulting in punishment, look like? This now resides in the hands of the committee. They decide. This has the possibility of working against non preferred candidates by the GOP if future chairmen are not honest, and was vigorously opposed by Morton Blackwell. The question became: do we just let things go the way they are, or take control of the debate process for the betterment of our party and candidates?

Several presidential candidates were asked to see what they thought, and all agreed they liked the plan. They liked fewer debates with our moderators on our terms, not ABC, CBS, MSNBC, etc. with their moderators. The rule was passed. However, I would have preferred adding the amendments explaining what a non-sanctioned debate looks like and limiting how many members the chairman can select. Those amendments were proposed, and I voted for them. However, the rest of the Michigan contingent didn’t, and voted against the amendments. The amendments were defeated. We all voted for the main rule following the debate because it puts the party in control, not the liberals.

The resolutions passed were the following:

Resolution protecting Americas farming and ranching.
Resolution on pain-capable unborn child protection laws – reaffirming our core principle of sanctity of life – and banning all abortions at 20 weeks (we want them all stopped but this has been effective in other states to get there).
Resolution against Harry Reid using taxpayer funds for partisan attacks.
Resolution on Christian persecution. Over 70 million Christians have been killed since the time of Christ, but over half of these have been in the 20th century. Christians are being singled out in Burma, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Zanzibar.
Resolution in support of parental school choice programs and education reform.

On a side note, please remember that Obamacare disrupted 82% of the people for the 18% that didn’t have insurance. It would have been easier to simply deal with the 18%. We are also educating people where there are no jobs and no money – why?

Marco Rubio spoke at one of our dinners, and reaffirmed what I have been saying for so long – hard work, morals, and values taught by two parents – a mother and a father – are the determining factor in success of our children. The family breakdown causes poverty, and our programs should encourage families and marriage, not the other way around. There is a definite progressive movement to destroy the family unit, through government benefits that favor single parents.

In America the son of a bartender and maid can be just as successful as the rich by hard work and education (Rubio was an example). The opportunity is here. The problem becomes accentuated when people look at the government as their god and provider. We don’t want to leave this country worse off for our posterity. For this reason we must win elections to lead. Certainly things are NOT better under Obama and the democrat rule. Let us be united in getting the right (literally) people elected the first time, with integrity, who will do what is good and right in spite of the persecution by the left.

Last note – in the original Webster’s dictionary, which our forefathers knew well, they said we have certain inalienable rights … The definition of inalienable were those rights that were not repugnant to God (most were Christians and understood what that meant). How things have changed!

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas A. Edison

George Orwell had it right: “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is revolutionary.” The efforts of liberal Hollywood, a liberal press, and liberal academia have rendered truth as some type of phobia. Honest discourse (freedom of speech) is no longer allowed, and weak-kneed politicians fold under the fear of being ridiculed for standing on principle. Pick your candidates wisely. Integrity means doing the right thing even when it hurts you personally – few posses this quality. We need more men and women that possess it.

Elections are primarily won on emotions, not reason. Personally I am moved by facts; however, the low information voter that the democrats appeal to, votes on the emotions of hope and fear, with fear being the stronger. Obama won his first election on “hope and change,” his second on fear. Fear that the Republicans were waging war on women, not caring about minorities, and inflicting pain on the working class – all a lie, but effective.

We are in a place that should place fear into every voter concerning the democrat leadership, loss of freedoms, and mandated healthcare that costs more. Medicare hurts the elderly most under ObamaCare. The youth are forced to buy what they don’t want or need. More people have gotten on to Medicaid (poor people’s health insurance) than ObamaCare, and we all pay for that. Medicaid patients will have their assets taken from their estate when they die – a back door tax increase on the poor. Illegal aliens are taking jobs from US citizens but, are excluded from paying for […]

President Lincoln said, “The people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the constitution.” He understood the ability of the courts to become what they ought not to be. The recent ruling by one man in a black robe concerning the 2004 vote of the people in defense of marriage is one example where a progressive judge has exerted powers beyond his scope. It blurs the lines between the three branches of government and the people’s vote.

We’ve seen more and more of this is recent times. Some people wonder why we even bother to vote if a single person can overrule the constitutional changes they have voted on. The fact is, the constitution is the supreme law of the land, not the judiciary. We’ve had judges use foreign law, like Sharia law, that caused U.S. citizens to lose their constitutional rights. Progressive judges need to be reigned back to prevent more of this from happening.

It was Adams that said “our constitution is only adequate for a moral people.” The problem becomes that many have redefined morality. For over 200 years we have recognized what that meant and our laws were based on that knowledge. We have only to look back into history to see what the results will be for our future, which looks very similar to the Greek and Roman collapse. Einstein’s definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

In short, the checks and balances must be kept in place or we have tyranny by a judicial oligarchy. “The most important moral, political, and cultural decisions affecting our lives are steadily being […]

March is Women’s History Month, which gives us all the opportunity to celebrate women’s contributions to our country throughout our history. The Republican Party played a leading role in securing women’s right to vote. When Susan B. Anthony defied the law and voted in 1872, she proudly voted the Republican ticket. She and other suffragists worked with her friend, Republican Senator A.A. Sargent, to introduce the 19th Amendment, and it took a Republican Congress to finally pass it in 1919.

Republican women have a history of being trailblazers, breaking ground and glass ceilings – from Margaret Chase Smith (the first woman to be elected to both the House and the Senate), to Sarah Palin (our 2008 vice-presidential nominee), to Susana Martinez of New Mexico (the nation’s first Latina governor), and Nikki Haley of South Carolina (the country’s youngest sitting governor). Republicans continue to offer a positive agenda for America’s women, as we work to create more job opportunities, lighten the tax burden, and reduce the cost of healthcare. Our policy goals are driven by the desire to do what’s best for women – not by scoring cynical political points.

Over and over President Obama told Americans that if they like their doctors, they could keep their doctors. Yet, in a WebMD interview last week, Obama said, “They might end up having to switch doctors.” This follows the administration’s earlier admission that Americans wouldn’t necessarily be able to keep insurance plans they liked. Once again, Democrats are admitting that ObamaCare was sold on a lie. They promised Americans who liked their plans and doctors that they wouldn’t lose them. Not only does the administration regularly and unilaterally re-write the law, they repeatedly take back their promises of what […]

Even in spite of this administration’s current efforts to reduce our military to pre-World War II levels, we still have the best technology and the best warriors in the world. What is so different about this plane is the fact that it is a ‘drone.’ Yes, it is completely unmanned. Drones come in all sizes, and the X-47B is likely one of the larger ones. What is so ironic about all of this is the fact that the enemy cannot detect a plane like this in the first place. In the unlikely event they get lucky at shooting one down, there will be neither loss of human life nor captivity. As you view the flight deck crew signaling the plane, they are simply signaling the on-board cameras, which in turn are being watched by staff inside the Command Intelligence Center (CIC) on board the ship.

Pilots are becoming extinct via technology in some scenarios, but not every scenario, as we will always need actual people that can make command decisions on the spot as the battle changes. This is because the computer hasn’t yet been built that can replicate the human ability to simply think. On the ideological battlefield, we need all of you to be those eyes and ears and brains, so that we can make good decisions about the direction of our party as our political battle continues. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)
